Katie Sleyman
I often catch myself hunched, the nerves in my neck on the verge of
pinching, shoulders rounded, spine following suit, and tailbone tucked. The
realization of this position snaps my body out of it. I straighten and extend,
arching and aligning to a form that feels more proper. These two stances,
hunched and straightened, appear in tandem throughout my day and in my
work. I create objects and installations that address spatial and bodily presence,
directing focus though detail.
